FAQ

Got questions about SwimX? Here are the most common ones. For anything else, reach out at swimx@bluemedialabs.com.

What do SCY, SCM, and LCM mean?

SCY = Short Course Yards (25-yard pool, common in US high schools and colleges)

SCM = Short Course Meters (25-meter pool)

LCM = Long Course Meters (50-meter pool, Olympic standard)

SwimX lets you compare performances across all three pool types using standardized points.

How does the time-to-points conversion work?

SwimX uses official scoring tables from World Aquatics (formerly FINA) and USA Swimming. These tables assign point values to swim times based on world records and standardized formulas.

A higher point value means a faster relative performance. The same point value across different events indicates equivalent performance levels.

Can I compare a 50 Free to a 200 Back?

Yes. That's exactly what SwimX is built for.

Enter your time for one event, see the points, then switch to another event. SwimX shows you what time would equal the same points in the new event — that's your "equivalent performance."

This helps answer questions like:

  • "Am I stronger in sprint or distance events?"
  • "How does my 100 Fly compare to my 200 IM?"
  • "What 400 Free time equals 600 points?"

Do I need an account or internet connection?

No.

SwimX works completely offline. All scoring tables are built into the app. No account required. No sign-up. No ads.

Your data stays on your device.

What scoring sources does SwimX support?

Currently:

  • World Aquatics / FINA Points — Open + Masters age groups
  • USA Swimming — Open + Youth + Masters age groups

You can switch between sources with one tap depending on which context you need.

What about Masters swimming age groups?

SwimX supports Masters age groups seamlessly. You can compare your performance across different age brackets to see how you're progressing or how your time compares to swimmers of different ages.

Example: "I'm 45 — what would this time mean if I were 35? Or 55?"

What about Youth age groups?

USA Swimming Youth scoring is included. You can see how a 12-year-old's time compares across age groups, or what time a swimmer would need to maintain their points level as they get older.

What is the Worksheet feature?

Tap "Save" to store any calculation. Build a list of swims, select entries to sum points, and keep totals for training sessions or meets.

Your worksheet persists even when you close the app.

Which strokes and distances are supported?

All standard competitive strokes and distances:

  • Strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Individual Medley
  • Distances: 50, 100, 200, 400/500, 800/1000, 1500/1650

Availability depends on the scoring source and pool type selected.

Is SwimX free?

Yes. SwimX is free to download and use. No subscriptions, no paywalls for core features.
